Sinners Is Heading to Halloween Horror Nights — and It's Going to Destroy You

Ryan Coogler's Oscar-winning vampire epic is no longer just a movie. This fall, Sinners becomes a place you walk into — and barely walk out of.

Universal Studios has confirmed that Sinners will be the flagship experience at Halloween Horror Nights 2026, marking one of the most anticipated haunted house announcements in the event's 35-year history. The immersive experience opens August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood, running through November 1 at both locations.

The Juke Joint Comes to Life

If you saw Sinners in theaters last year, you already know what's at stake. Ryan Coogler's supernatural horror-period drama dropped audiences into 1932 Mississippi Delta, following twin brothers Elijah "Smoke" and Elias "Stack" Moore — both played by Michael B. Jordan — as they return home from Chicago to open a juke joint for their community. What should have been a night of music, dancing, and celebration turns into a fight for survival when an ancient vampire named Remmick and his thralls arrive.

Now Universal is recreating that juke joint — Club Juke — in terrifying, full-scale detail.

Guests will enter Club Juke only to find that the celebration has already turned. Remmick, Bert, and Joan are there. So are Sammie, Mary, Annie, Pearline, and Cornbread. You're caught in the middle. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights creative team is billing this as one of the most ambitious haunted house designs they've ever attempted. Executive producer John Murdy put it plainly: "We are re-inventing the haunted house and creating new ways to scare our guests."

A Record-Setting Film Gets a Legendary Stage

The numbers behind Sinners are almost absurd. Released April 18, 2025 through Warner Bros. Pictures, the film earned $370 million worldwide against a $90–100 million budget. Its $48 million opening weekend was the best start for an original film since Jordan Peele's Us. It holds a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned an "A" CinemaScore — the highest grade any horror film had received in 35 years.

Then came the Oscars. Sixteen nominations. Four wins: Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan), Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), Best Cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw, making history as the first Black woman to win in that category), and Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson). It became the first original film to surpass $200 million domestically since Coco in 2017.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 is the 35th anniversary edition of the iconic event — and Sinners is the crown jewel of the season. As Universal Orlando's creative director Mike Aiello said: "The moment Sinners premiered, we knew it was an undeniable fit for Halloween Horror Nights. It's rare for a film to fully satisfy hardcore horror fans while also inviting new audiences into the genre."

Why This Is Going to Be Different

Most great horror films make the leap to haunted house with mixed results. The jump from screen to physical space is treacherous — what terrifies you in a darkened theater often falls flat under LED lighting with a crowd of tourists.

Sinners is built differently. The film's horror is deeply atmospheric. It's about music, place, and dread — the way a juke joint transforms from sanctuary to slaughterhouse, the way Remmick's vampires move with an almost spiritual menace. These are exactly the qualities that translate to physical space. You don't need jump cuts and editing tricks when you're standing inside the room where it happened.

Ryan Coogler and his production team have been involved in adapting the experience. "Watching it come to life on this scale has been really special for all of us," the team said in a statement. That creative involvement matters. It means this isn't a licensing deal where Universal slaps some promotional images on a hallway. It's a genuine extension of the world.

What to Know Before You Go

Tickets are available now at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood. Options include single-night tickets, early access (5:30 p.m. entry at Hollywood, 2 p.m. at Orlando), Frequent Fear and Ultimate Fear multi-night passes, and Express options. Sinners merchandise has already hit Universal shops ahead of the event opening.

This is shaping up to be the most talked-about horror experience of the year. If you're anywhere near Orlando or Los Angeles between late August and November 1, this is not optional.
