Dead by Daylight Goes All Out for 10 Years: Art the Clown, Jason, Scooby-Doo, and a Blumhouse Movie
It was the biggest single day in Dead by Daylight history. Behaviour Interactive celebrated the 10th anniversary of the asymmetrical horror game with a livestream that felt more like a horror convention keynote — packed with new chapters, massive crossovers, a Blumhouse-produced movie update, and confirmation that Art the Clown is finally stepping into The Fog.
Here is everything that came out of the Dead by Daylight 10th Anniversary broadcast, from killer reveals to visual overhauls.
Art the Clown Finally Enters Dead by Daylight
The whisper network was right. David Howard Thornton himself appeared on stage in full Art the Clown makeup to confirm that Terrifier is coming to Dead by Daylight as a fully licensed chapter launching November 2026. Art the Clown has quickly become one of modern horror's most bankable slashers, and his addition to the game's sprawling killer roster feels like the culmination of years of fan demand. Details on the chapter's full contents are still under wraps, but the promise alone generated some of the loudest reactions of the entire broadcast.
Jason Voorhees Slashes Into View
Earlier this year, Behaviour surprised everyone by announcing that Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees would finally join Dead by Daylight as a killer-only chapter. The anniversary broadcast confirmed that the hockey-masked icon is settling in as a permanent part of the game's increasingly absurd crossover canon. His inclusion represents the end of a long-standing licensing saga — Jason had been locked in legal limbo for years while Friday the 13th rights sat tangled in court. His arrival in The Fog is a landmark moment for fans of classic slasher cinema.
Scooby-Doo, Diablo, and Silent Hill Join the Crossover Parade
The broadcast doubled down on Dead by Daylight's status as the ultimate horror multiverse. Scooby-Doo was teased with a Mystery Inc.-themed onesie outfit, confirming that the beloved cartoon crime-solvers are entering The Fog in some form. Blizzard's Diablo is also crossing over, with a preview showing Lilith from Diablo 4 as a Legendary outfit for The Artist.
Meanwhile, the long-running Silent Hill partnership is expanding. Players can expect Cheryl to receive a Legendary outfit modeled after Shimizu Hinako, the protagonist of the upcoming Silent Hill f. Next year, The Spirit will also get a Nurse outfit from the Silent Hill universe.
The Walking Dead collaboration is also getting new content, with Glenn and Negan joining as Legendary outfits later this year and into 2027. And in a surprise for music fans, Ice Nine Kills is getting its own in-game collection, complete with a brand new Dead by Daylight-themed track. Iron Maiden is also returning with an Eddie Legendary outfit for The Huntress.
The Blumhouse Movie Has a Director
Blumhouse's Dead by Daylight film adaptation cleared a major milestone during the broadcast. Jason Blum and producer Stephen Mulrooney confirmed that Thordur Palsson — director of the acclaimed horror film The Damned and The Valhalla Murders — has signed on to direct. The screenplay, written by Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, is complete. Palsson described his vision for the film as capturing the feeling of looking over your shoulder and the tension of not knowing what is waiting in The Fog. The movie will feature iconic locations like the MacMillan Estate and Greenville, with production expected to begin in 2027.
Year 11 Roadmap: New Chapters, New Modes, and a Visual Overhaul
Behaviour used the anniversary to lay out an ambitious Year 11 roadmap. Coming up next is The Life Road chapter on June 25, introducing the game's first Indigenous Survivor, Shane Wiigwaas, played by Reservation Dogs and Fallout actor Dallas Goldtooth. The community-designed chapter Chorus of Sin launches August 25 with a new Killer and Survivor. A mall map inspired by liminal spaces arrives in December. And The Casting of Frank Stone gets its own chapter in March 2027.
On the gameplay side, Behaviour confirmed two new modes are in development: a 1v1 competitive mode arriving in early 2027, and a Zombie Mode that turns Survivors into the undead. Official sandboxed modding support is also on the way, letting players create and share maps, modes, and more.
Perhaps the biggest long-term news is the full visual overhaul hitting in 2027. The update promises reworked character models, better facial animations, upgraded lighting and textures, improved fog and mist effects, and dynamic weather systems including rain and storms. Behaviour also confirmed there will be no Dead by Daylight 2 — instead, the studio is investing everything into evolving the original game.
The 10th anniversary broadcast was a statement of intent. Dead by Daylight has spent a decade building the horror multiverse no one thought could exist, bringing together characters from across the entire genre. With Art the Clown, Jason, Scooby-Doo, a movie on the way, and a visual overhaul in the pipeline, the next decade looks even scarier.
