Gore Wars Is Casting: Screamify Wants Your Practical Effects
Screamify has officially opened the casting call for Gore Wars, a practical-effects filmmaking reality competition series now in development — and the search is on for the effects artists and filmmakers who will bring it to life. If you sculpt prosthetics in your garage, rig blood cannons in your backyard, or live for the moment a latex wound reads perfectly on camera, this is your shot.
What Is Gore Wars?
Gore Wars is a reality competition series in development at Screamify built around one uncompromising idea: practical effects only. No CGI. No AI. Just corn syrup, latex, foam, and the craft that made horror's greatest moments unforgettable.
The series will pit practical-effects filmmakers against each other in gore-soaked challenges, with a $10,000 grand prize on the line for the competitors on the show. Before any of that can happen, the show needs its cast — and that's where this casting call comes in.
How to Submit Your Audition Tape
Casting is open now at gorewars.com, and the format is simple. Your audition tape is 90 seconds, in two parts:
- 30 seconds introducing yourself — who you are, where you work, and why practical gore is your thing
- 60 seconds of an original horror scene that shows off your practical effects skills
Three hard rules for the scene:
Upload your tape directly at gorewars.com. The submission form walks you through the agreement and materials release, and your clip goes straight to the producers' review queue.
The Deadline
Casting closes August 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM Central Time. That gives you the rest of the summer to sculpt, rig, shoot, and cut your best 90 seconds — but the strongest tapes tend to come from the people who start early and iterate.
Why Practical Effects Matter
There's a reason the genre keeps coming back to practical work. The shower scene in Psycho, the chestburster in Alien, the transformations in An American Werewolf in London — these moments still hold up because something real happened in front of the camera. Actors reacted to things they could see and touch. Gore Wars is being built as a celebration of that craft and the artists keeping it alive, from garage haunters to indie makeup-effects veterans.
If that's you, the producers want to see what you can do.
Get Your Tape In
Head to gorewars.com, read the casting terms, and submit your 90 seconds before August 20. Show the intro that makes them remember you and the scene that proves nobody bleeds like you do.
