We're making a horror movie about the most soothing corner of the internet.
'Crack' is a Screamify Original feature about a celebrity ASMR chiropractor whose first-ever livestream ends in an on-camera death. It is the first green light on our new medical-horror slate, and our first film in ASMR horror. Calvin Morie McCarthy directs for 7th Street Productions. It shoots this fall and premieres exclusively here later this year.
The story. Anna West, fresh out of a halfway house, falls asleep every night to the whispered voice of Dr. Ryan Love, the Seattle chiropractor behind a hit spine-cracking ASMR channel. When his devoted office manager Rita suddenly vanishes, Anna walks into Love Chiropractic and makes herself indispensable — running his schedule, growing his channel, answering his lonely fans in his voice. As the line between devotion and design disappears, everything converges on the channel's biggest gamble: a live broadcast with real first-time patients, a climbing viewer count, and a neck adjustment that goes sharply, irreversibly wrong.
The cast. Peyton Grace Bell plays Anna West in her first starring feature role. Alexander Molina ('Dash,' 'Coaled Blood') plays Dr. Ryan Love. And Tuesday Knight — Kristen Parker in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master,' who also wrote and performed that film's theme — plays Rita.
Why this one. Chiropractic cracking videos are one of ASMR's signature genres. The hashtag has drawn billions of views. The most popular practitioners have followings in the millions. Researchers at the University of Sheffield have found ASMR content can measurably slow your heart rate and ease anxiety. That is exactly why millions of people fall asleep to the sound of a stranger's spine popping.
It's a genre built entirely on trusting a stranger's hands. We wanted to make the movie that turns that trust into a nightmare, live on stream.
