Godzilla Is About to Fight Everyone at Once
IDW Publishing just confirmed the comic book event Godzilla fans have been building toward for a year: a four-issue crossover called "Godzilla Versus Everything," colliding every corner of its current Kai-Sei Era universe into one apocalyptic brawl. It's not subtle, it's not small, and it is exactly the kind of unhinged kaiju chaos horror and monster fans live for.
One Monster, Every Story, One Collision
Announced at IGN Fan Fest, "Godzilla Versus Everything" is written by Tim Seeley with art by Fero Pe, and it's built as the culmination of IDW's Kai-Sei Era line — the connected comic universe the publisher has been quietly assembling since 2025. Characters from four separate ongoing series are being pulled into the same four issues: the long-running Godzilla title, space-faring mech book Starship Godzilla, apocalyptic survival story Escape the Deadzone, and the more atmospheric The Horror of Godzilla.
The premise, per IDW's own solicitation copy, doesn't bother easing anyone in: "Godzilla has achieved its most powerful form yet and has its sights set on destroying the world. Can the combined forces of Earth — and beyond — stop the King of the Monsters..." Concept art attached to the announcement reportedly homages the design language of 1995's Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, which should tell longtime fans exactly how far past "controlled rampage" this new form is meant to go.
The Lead-In Starts This Month
This isn't a cold open. IDW has been laying track for the crossover for months, and the on-ramp lands fast: Starship Godzilla: Invasion X #1 and Godzilla: Revenge of the Deadzone #1 both debut October 28th, with a direct prelude running through issue #17 of the ongoing Godzilla series — which is also being positioned as that title's final issue before the crossover absorbs it. "Godzilla Versus Everything" #1 is currently slated for March 2027, giving readers a full five months to catch up on every thread before the four books converge.
For a franchise built on the simple pleasure of watching something enormous level a city, folding four separate storylines into one event is a big swing. But it's also the kind of move that only works if a publisher is confident the connective tissue between its titles is actually strong enough to pay off — and IDW clearly thinks it is.
Why This Matters Beyond the Comic Rack
Godzilla has always lived comfortably in horror's backyard — the character's entire DNA traces back to radioactive-monster dread, not superhero spectacle — and crossover events like this one tend to ripple outward. A high-profile comic event is exactly the kind of thing that reignites casual interest in kaiju horror more broadly, from the Shōwa-era classics to the found-footage monster movies that owe Godzilla a direct debt. Whether or not "Godzilla Versus Everything" ends up being essential reading, it's a reminder that the King of the Monsters never really leaves the conversation — he just waits for the next excuse to flatten something.
